Token based reuse app

Hiiba uses a simple Eco Reward (ERW) token system to make giving and adopting free items more intentional, fair, and transparent, without turning reuse into a cash marketplace.

Every member starts with ERW, then spends small amounts to message and reserve items, and can earn ERW back by successfully giving items a second life through the app.

In brief

  • Hiiba’s ERW tokens act as Eco Rewards inside the app, adding a small cost to attention so people message and reserve items only when they are serious.
  • When a giver marks an item as given after real engagement, they can earn ERW, rewarding useful giving and keeping the reuse loop active and practical.
  • Balances are tracked off-chain for speed, while rewards can be settled on-chain, so everyday reuse stays fast while preserving a transparent, verifiable reward layer.

What to do

ERW means Eco Reward, a small token economy inside Hiiba designed to support better reuse behavior. Instead of using money, members use ERW to show commitment when they contact givers or reserve items. This helps reduce vague interest and encourages people to act only when they truly plan to pick something up and give it a second life.

Sending the first message in a new conversation and reserving an item both use a small amount of ERW. These fees are not meant to make reuse expensive; they exist to make actions intentional. Without this commitment signal, free marketplaces can become noisy, with givers receiving many unfocused messages and receivers reserving items without planning collection.

On the earning side, givers can receive ERW when they mark an item as given after real engagement. The app tracks balances off-chain in Supabase for speed, while the giving reward can also be settled on-chain through a reward engine. This hybrid design keeps everyday interactions fast and simple, while maintaining a genuine, transparent reward layer that supports a practical reuse loop.

What to keep in mind

Hiiba’s token-based approach is built for people who want to exchange items without cash while still having a clear, structured system. ERW creates a small but meaningful signal of commitment, so givers can see which requests are serious and receivers are more likely to follow through on reservations and pickups.

The ERW economy is intentionally simple compared with complex crypto or blockchain apps. Members do not need to manage wallets or tradeable coins; they just use ERW inside the app to message, reserve, and earn rewards for successful giving. If a giver cancels a reservation or gives an item to someone else after engagement fees were paid, the app can refund those fees to support fairness.

This model suits people who value circular reuse and want transparent tracking of engagement, but it may not fit those looking for a traditional cash-based buy-and-sell marketplace. It focuses on rewarding responsible giving and adoption, helping useful items move faster from one home to another while keeping the experience practical for everyday use in the app.
